Why learning to accept kindness is part of healing?
Some people are my steroids, and some are my flu — the kind that lingers a little too long. No medicine could take away the excitement and joy I feel when I see them.
I send a guardian angel to watch over their kind spirits, even when I know they might not want to be helped.
You can see how much we are alike. We have spent so much of our lives helping others that even the smallest act of kindness towards us can send us spiralling into thoughts that we might not deserve even the bare minimum.
But you will also see how much we have healed from all of that. We are learning to accept help, to let others care for us, and to believe that we deserve kindness, too.
That might be the one skill I have yet to master.
