Failed The 100th Time

Why is change so difficult?

Our brains tend to prefer familiarity and predictability. Uncertainty can trigger a stress response because our brains are trying to work out what to expect and whether we are safe.

You will see people who have failed for the hundredth time taking another setback like it is just another Tuesday. With experience, some people become more comfortable with failure and change.

Our brain is not literally a muscle, but it can adapt through learning and experience. You can train yourself to become more flexible when facing change. You can also become stubborn as hell.

We need both: the flexibility to change when necessary and the stubbornness to say no when our boundaries are tested.
