Do you believe in karma?
I thought I did, but I did not. I believed in justice. People should get some sort of punishment to learn to stop doing wrong things.
Over time, if appropriate punishment is not given for minor wrongdoings like petty theft, humans have a tendency to do something more and not get caught.
Some get high from not getting caught. Their whole ego changes. It is like gambling.
