Pleasing Just To Lose

Pleasing Just To Lose

Fifteen minutes to go till I have to be something for others, and it has started again—
being something for the whole world while the world chips away my innocence.
How much till I finally say, No!

It’s probably not today, because I am all dressed up to please the world
with my humble heart and a beautiful soul that I took a stand to keep,
even after all the punches from the world asking me to turn into a robot
like the ones in a cubicle.

When will I finally say No! to all the pleasing?
I am getting close to ripping down this curtain
with all this false hope behind—hope to reach the other side
of my own misjudgment.

The serenity and the sanity have me going on fumes of cortisol.
If they only had all the answers in the book of life.
